SCCA WellFest - Wellbeing Chapter end of 2024 message

Celebrating Our Wellbeing Journey in 2024
As we approach the end of 2024, I want to take a moment to reflect on our collective journey towards enhancing wellbeing of corporate counsels within SCCA and beyond.
The festive holidays are here again, and it is the season to be jolly to reconnect and a time for reflection as well as celebration. We have made significant strides in promoting mental health awareness and providing resources to support the corporate counsel community. We relaunched the SCCA Wellbeing Chapter which has been a pivotal step in this journey. We have scaled up the events the Chapter brings, and through this increased activity the Chapter has sought to emphasize the importance of overall wellbeing including mental health. In particular, the need to shift away from the high-pressure culture, that has long been the norm in our legal profession.
This year has been a testament to our Wellbeing Chapter’s commitment to fostering a supportive and healthy environment for all our corporate counsel. Whether it is through the “Wellbeing Wednesdays’ Series” in small groups over lunchtime, or the Corporate Counsel Sustainability Conference the Chapter’s one day immersive event in October 2024, the SCCA Wellbeing Chapter is here for YOU!
For some however, the festive holidays can be a time of loneliness where feelings can be magnified, or the pressure of not fitting into the mould of what this time of the year “should” look like. Major festivals, including Christmas, can bring significant emotional shifts. Social media often is full of pictures of parties, celebrations and holidays. One should also not underestimate managing family dynamics which often can overwhelming and leaving some to experience feeling utterly inadequate.
Be mindful of anyone you know in this predicament and do try and reach out and be kind especially to those struggling with the burdens of the year end. Remind them that they are not alone.
We have seen employers across Singapore becoming increasingly mindful of the mental health of their staff, and the SCCA is proud to be at the forefront of this movement. The Tripartite Oversight Committee on Workplace Safety and Health has launched new campaigns to foster a supportive working environment, and we have actively participated in these initiatives.
As we move into the new year, let us continue to prioritize our wellbeing and support each other in achieving a healthy work-life balance. Remember, it's not just about working hard, but also working smart and taking care of ourselves.
Thank you for your dedication and resilience. Here's to a healthier and happier 2025!
Happy Holidays and Seasons Greetings!
